What If We Were Just Playing a Game?
Inspired by the earlier post on exploring the wisdom of games, I have been thinking...
Pretend existence is a game we're playing.
Then the question arises, how does one win?
Games always have prizes or rewards. Even if that reward is just the pleasure of the play.
So what is the prize?
Well it depends which game you are playing. The minimal answer is personal pleasure. I will do what ever I can to gratify myself, but nothing more. I'm sure you know the type. The vampires.American Psycho. Those who have not read Finite and Infinite Games
It's really very short sighted and unimaginative, don't you think?
When there's a bigger game in town.
To be involved in a positive feedback loop with other people, bouncing energy between one another, amplifies the signal. It is an amazing experience. And that notion, of signal amplifiers, is a key to many things. If you pay attention, and the world pays attention back, then the result is greater than the sum of it's part. How can that not be considered more of a winning result?
It can be hard to really find such situations. Our society isn't set up to encourage such structures, and with many people caught down in the first few stages of the 8 circuit model of consciousness, a state deliberately encouraged by our financial, political and social systems, many of the population aren't fully able to participate. Though even without that memetic pressure, some of the population would still not join in.
However group blogs like these are rallying points for the like meta minded, set into the connected consciousness of humanity. A place where we can find such positive feedback loops, and amplify our signals. Nodes of cross pollination, accelerating intelligence, casting spells.
Pleasure seeking is at the root of all decisions. So surely it only makes sense to maximize it.
That provides the winning hand..
